Let us begin our devotion with a prayer.

Gracious father we thank you for another time of praise and worship and fellowship with you. A time that we can say that you have come to renew our strength, a time that we can say you have come to mend all our wounds, a time that we can say that we have experienced the real deal. Thank you for those of us reading this and thank you for those who will read this. We pray you call us by name today. Please reveal your deep truth unto us even as we start another journey this week. We bless your name and we honour you in Jesus mighty name, Amen.

Joshua 5:9
Then the Lord said to Joshua, today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you. Therefore the name of this place is called Gilgal to this day.
Psalms 32:1-3
‘Happy are those whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Happy are those who the Lord imputes no iniquity and in whose spirit there is no deceit. While I kept silent my body wasted away through my groaning all day long’

The Gospel

Luke15: 10-32 (summarized)
Now all the tax collectors and the sinners were coming near to Listen to Him(Jesus), and the Pharisees and the scribes were gambling and saying; this fellow(Jesus) welcomes sinners and eats with them, He told them This parable:
‘There was a man who had 2 sons the younger of them said to his father give me the share of my property that will belong to me, so his father had no choice to divide his property between them. A few days later son gathered all he had and traveled to distance country and there he squandered his property When he had spent everything a severe famine took place throughout that country and he began to be in need, he went and hide himself out of one of the citizens of the country who sent to him his field to feed with the pigs.’

Key Memory Verse
Luke 15:18
I will get up and go to my father and I will say to him, father! I have sinned against Heaven and before you.

Jesus talked about Parable about the lost sheep

He said which among you if you had 100 sheep and you lost 1 you wouldn’t go and leave the 99 in open pasture to go search after the one that is lost.
What Jesus meant was that I have 100 sheep, one is missing but because I care so much for every one of them I would just let the 99 wait and search for the lost one.

What does the Prodigal son symbolize?

The story of the prodigal son is a picture of God’s love for us and his children. God’s love towards us does not depend on our faithfulness. He loved us while we were still sinners

Romans 5:28
God commanded His love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, he sent his only begotten son to die for us.
We need to have an attitude of repentance as the prodigal son repented and went back to his father for forgiveness.

Things Sin Does to our Lives

1. Sin pollutes us
2. Sin steals our joy
3. Sin embarrasses us and put us to shame.

According to John 10:10

‘The thief cometh not but to steal, kill and destroy but I have come that you may have life, and have it more abundantly’

God Loves You

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

All men have sinned and fallen short of God’s Glory, yet God made the provision of eternal life for you through the sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ. If you wish to be saved to day, kindly say this prayer:

Prayer of Salvation

Lord Jesus, thank You for loving me even though I am a sinner.
I surrender my life to you as my Lord and saviour.
Thank You for saving me, in Jesus Name. Amen
