Above all, taking the shield of Faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. (Ephesians 6:16)
Our faith is our victory.
If you lose faith, you lose the battle. If you have faith you have won, the fight. Where does our Faith come from? The sure word of God! (Romans 10:17)
The enemy of our souls wants to break your defenses by breaking your faith. He wants to enter your domain by piercing holes in your defense.
He comes to steal, kill and destroy
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10).
The devil wants
- your peace of mind,
- your wealth in God
- and the joy of salvation which is your daily strength.
He is a liar and the father of all lies (John 8:44). He speaks through people and situations and releases lies-fiery darts and burning arrows daily- about your present state, about your God and about your future.
Do not buy into his lies. Do not accept it. Reject it with the positive word of our GOD-
- that it is well with you (Isaiah 3:10);
- that you have a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11);
- that your end shall be glorious and peaceful;
- that your sons and children will come back.
Decree the word of the Lord that no weapon formed against you shall prosper; and that by His stripes you are healed (Isaiah 53:5; 54:17)! This is using your shield of faith! Use it-and extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one, in the name of Jesus Christ our Savior.
You are born of God, and whatsoever is born of God – the King of Kings, overcomes the world.
This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith (1John 5:4).
Your Faith, Your Shield
Your faith is your shield of defense in this troublesome world-beset with man-made turmoil and natural disasters. But grow your faith and work to keep it intact by consistent study of the Bible- God’s word.
As you continue to read your bible daily, and continue in fellowship with God and His Church, you are polishing your shield of faith, updating it, fortifying it and making it ready and fit for defensive use.
When the situation says you are barren deflect it with your shield of faith and confess God’s word that you are fruitful and abounding!
When life tells you have failed, lift your shield through believing the word of God-and declare you are more than a conqueror through Him who loved you, even Jesus Christ the Lord. Is death haunting you-Use your shield of faith-In Christ I live and move and have my being. I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD! (Acts 17:28; Psalm 118:17)
Can you imagine a warrior going into battle-facing a host of incoming arrows and having nothing to defend himself or hide behind? Nothing to shelter him from the rain pouring down. That fight is a lost cause and he will soon be severely wounded and lose his life. But that is not your portion. God our Heavenly Father has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness(2 Peter 1:3). We are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness (1 John 5:19) but in Christ Jesus alone have we peace. In this world we will have trouble. Nevertheless, take heart! Jesus has overcome the world. (John 16:33) Rehearse the victories God has wrought for you in His word and Use your shield of Faith to extinguish every arrow against you.
