Dear Friend ,Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high -minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. (1Timothy 6:17-19).
How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. (Acts 10:38).
Be Like Jesus in doing good
Do you know that song we used to sing in Sunday school –“everywhere He went He was doing good. The mighty healer He healed a leper. When the cripple saw Him, they started walking, everywhere he went my Lord was doing good. “ If He whom we call our Lord and Master was a good doer all over all around, and we are to imitate Him on the earth seeing as we bear His Name and carry His Spirt, then we also should do Good and be well known for it as good doers. Simple. We must so do good and be so given to good doing that it becomes our default setting, it must come easily to us, in fact second nature. Bible exhorts us in Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.” We must do good on earth, in this life, to our fellow men as unto God. Everyone can do good; everyone must do good. It is not the prerogative of a select few, but the responsibility of all. You have something to offer, for everyone has something to give. Furthermore, your good doing must be so constant and consistent it will speak for itself, without you announcing it. It will shine before men. Remember now the most-used and very common cliché in the world- “God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.” Goodness is the very nature of the Godhead. Doing Good confirms the Deity DNA in you, for as He is, so are we in this world. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and hereby we do know that we know Him, if we keep his commandments. And this is His commandment, That we should believe on the Name of His Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. ( 1John 2:3 /3:23)
Doing good is made easier because you love
Goodness is a product of love. An outflow from the wellsprings of the deep love of God embedded in our spirits, for the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by His spirit whom He has given each of us and sealed us with. For God so loved –the world, that He gave (goodness, the best gifts) to the world. The command is to lay down our lives for the brethren (1John3:16) esteeming others better than ourselves ( ). If people cant testify that you are good, if you cant enumerate your good deeds, and if it is hard to figure out what acts of goodness you have done in the last few days, then the sad truth is that you probably haven’t done much. Step it up! You need to overflow with Goodness. Find a need and meet it. Be relevant, be helpful, not just in the spirit but also physically on this earth. If you have this world’s good, and see your brother have need, and shut up your bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in you? My little children let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but indeed and in truth. (1John3:17).
Keep up the good work
Continue doing good and raise the notch up a little higher –your testimony depends on it. Men must see –your good works –testify. Do better, God’s praise depends on it. It will abound in your account. Go out of your way and provide solution, help & relief for someone – for you are the Child of the Good and Holy King. That is what priestly royals do. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Eph.2:10). We have been created for good works- this is what we are made for. We are instruments of righteousness: fulfill your purpose. Don’t let life’s. We are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses, a great host of good doers, our ancestors and saints who have moved on, urging us to step up and do more till the end. Consider them and lose not faith. Whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in my name, shall not lose his reward. (Matt.10:41) You know what to do –Do Good –You can do it.!
Trust in the LORD and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. (Psalm37:3). In the words of our Father John Wesley, ‘Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can.” Amen. God bless you. Remain blessed!
